We all want to know "what's it going to cost". Here's a guide to how we price our work . . .
If you meet our criteria, we can spend up to five hours clarifying your business intent, the essential tasks and the packages, screens and actions required. At the end of that process, if we'd both still like to work together, we will provide an estimate for what it would take to build the site. We always provide a range (e.g. $12,200 - $14,500) as the number of questions you have during the process and the number of changes you want to make to what we build will affect what it costs to deliver the project.
Once we've provided an estimate, if you're willing to pay within the budgeted range for a site that meets your needs, we'll build the site on spec. We won't go outside your budgeted range without both your approval and commitment to pay the higher figure if you're happy with the site. Most of the sites we build cost between $10,000 and $25,000. We won't undertake projects that exceed $50,000 on a spec basis with new clients.
If you love the site, you pay for it, we deploy it, and you can start benefiting immediately from the application. If you don't think we've done a good job, we'll just take the site down and move on - all at no cost to you.
For consulting engagements, we agree blocks of time (usually 20 hours for between $2,500 and $3,500 depending on the type of consulting required) to work with you on solving agreed problems which are then pre-paid as a retainer before provision of services. We can provide a wide range of consulting services including: marketing consulting, market research, business process modeling/design, information architecture, copywriting, graphic design, prototyping and usability testing, scaling/load testing, security consulting and custom programming/application design services.
For clients who are open to it, we love to use Agile development practices. With Agile development, we work with you to prioritize your use cases. We use small two man week SCRUMs as we find they fit better within our clients budgets and given our development practices, we can create a lot of functionality in two man weeks. We then work on your top use cases, showing working code on a weekly basis as we iterate towards your final application. The cost for Agile development is $7,500 per 60 hour SCRUM, so it is ideal for project budgets between $30,000 and $75,000.
